Introducing the Pearl Seekers

Welcome to Pearl Seekers

Circumstances beyond our making have meant that for almost two years little development has happened on this site. We have left the site on the web; but its future direction may be quite different from the original direction in which we were moving.

In 2007 we turned off the Bulletin Board not only because of the change in circumstances, but also because we were clarifying our future direction. Our initial approach was simply to invite the sharing of ideas on a range of issues. We came to believe that this process did not lead to a deeper sense of the mystery at the heart of reality, the mystery that we were seeking together as equals. Rather than simply discussing ideas, we have come to the position that it is important to start with experiences with associated feelings, move towards coming up with images, and see whether all this will lead to new insights and, if so desired, to action.

We have also observed that there are now a very large number of groups and websites dedicated to almost any topic one could think of, for example, Climate Change, Justice, Spirituality, Workplaces and so on. There is no need to reinvent the wheel by duplicating such groups and websites.

In addition to the above reasons for turning off the Bulletin Board, at the time of turning off the bulletin board there had been several very inappropriate postings from outside sources that were not consistent with our vision and values.

Considering the various approaches we have tried or considered we feel that the future of the Project may be based on a new way of sharing experiences and a new way of knowing. Hopefully this will lead to a deeper sense of the mystery at the heart of reality. The importance of meeting face to face in groups has been more and more realised by those of us working on the project. While not exactly face to face groups, setting up small groups on the site that may allow people to get to know each other in a less public setting may be a direction in which we could travel.

In another approach we considered that participants could  be invited to reflect on selected evocative input from a range of materials: nature, a poem, a season, and so on. The thought was that the inpurt could be renewed each month. Those taking part could  be encouraged to find time for silence and contemplation before contributing to a Face to Face Group; or before posting to a select group, or to a more public sharing, using the Bulletin Board at Sharing in Online Conversations - Forums.

We invite you to send us your comments and suggestions about the future of this project by email using team@pearlseekers.com.au
